Rumours are swirling about the relative “power” of next generation systems.

According to IGN, the “720” will include a GPU based on AMD’s 6000 series, and boast a “power” level some six times greater than the 360. The Wii U, meanwhile, will supposedly run at a mere 5x the juicy juice.

Kotaku has been led to believe the 720 will run Blu-ray discs and ship with a Kinect sequel. The system is also said to include an “anti-used game system.” No word on what that particular horror might involve. Oh, and Microsoft is supposedly aiming for roughly 8x the power of the 360 in this one.

A source speaking to Develop claims the Wii U is just 2x as powerful as the 360, but that’s somehow “above market expectations.” It seems some developers have been frustrated by a down-scaled Wii U, and that two times the power is actually more than what they’re expecting.

Team Ninja, meanwhile, is working on a port of Ninja Gaiden III for Wii U’s launch. The thinking about renaming the thing, it will definitely won’t play DVDs or Blu-rays.
