2018 predictions:
- January Direct, as leaked by EA
- continue with the steady stream of games, January Direct will outline a lot of them
- big 2018 games – Kirby, Yoshi, Fire Emblem, Metroid Prime 4, Pokemon
- unannounced – Smash 4 Switch, Animal Crossing
- Monster Games – DKCR3
- Next Level Games – Luigi’s Mansion 3 or Mario Strikers
- Retro – new IP, online shooter
- Grezzo – Ocarina/MM 3D combo port
- 3rd parties and indies will continue to ramp up support – specifically, the success of DOOM will trigger a rush of FPS ports
- Rogue Squadron Trilogy for Switch
- return of NES and SNES mini for Christmas, no new mini due to NERD working Switch’s VC replacement – “Classic Game Selection”
- no new hardware, just lots and lots of controller variants
- Switch online plan will be detailed in January Direct and release in March – subscription will include online play and access to classic games (as promised)
- the big revelation will be that this selection doesn’t suck – NES, SNES, N64, GB, GBA, and now GCN games, one of each added every month – no online play as originally promised
- will include cloud saves and the “proper account system” that I’ve been predicting for a decade, as in, log out of one Switch, log into another, and your stuff comes with you
