From the minds that brought you Super Tofu Boy and Mama Kills Animals comes Super Tanooki Skin 2D.
That’s right, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals are back with another Flash time waster parodying a popular game which supposedly promotes animal abuse.
This time, it’s Mario’s reliance on the soft fur of the tanuki in Super Mario 3D Land which has raised the ire of these animal lovers. In the organization’s game, you’ll play as a skinned tanuki chasing fur-suited Mario, still dripping blood. Tanuki are, of course, Japan’s favourite giant testicle wielding mammals
On the game’s page, PeTA describes Mario as “wearing the skin of a raccoon dog to give him special powers,” and claims “Mario is sending the message that it’s OK to wear fur.”
PeTA does acknowledge that the power up “may be just a ‘suit,’” but fails to see Mario’s wearing of it as comparable to, say, someone dressing as a rabbit for Halloween. Or maybe that’s not okay either, I don’t know.
