2011′s Tokyo Game Show is being held September 15th through 18th. The show is a pretty massive deal, with plenty of news and megatons in varying degrees always coming out of it.
All of that being the case, and since we’re still a few weeks away from the event, a stack of crazy rumours has appeared to chew on!
Perhaps the most significant of the rumours is that Sega is working on a Layton-esque rhythm game for 3DS, because it’s no longer a rumour. Famitsu has confirmed that a 3DS rhythm game titled Phantom Thief R: Inheritance of the Emperor Napoleon is in the works over at Sega. That gives hope for all the rest.
Perhaps the craziest rumour of the bunch is that Dragon Quest X is supposedly going to be “MMO-like.” The series is extremely slow to evolve, and its fans like it that way, which makes this very hard to believe. Of course, the rumour is vague enough that that may simply refer to an optional online component.
Capcom is said to be making Monster Hunter Tri G for 3DS (which may very well be that “big announcement” separately rumoured).
Big but less crazy is the claim that Vita will be out later this year, and that it will be getting Monster Hunter 3rd HD as a launch title.
Bayonetta 2 is supposedly in development and (get this) being made to release at the same time as a CG theatrical Bayonetta movie.
Also supposedly in the works: Warriors of Light 2 for 3DS, Miku Hatsune for 3DS, and a new Shining game for PSP.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
